On Friday 1/20/08, I went to the doctor and had my port put in. The easiest way to explain it is to not even try. I’ll show you a picture instead and I’ll include a link for more information.
This is what it looks like. This will keep me from being a pin cushion. It can be used to draw blood as well as inject meds.
It is located just below my right collar bone just under the skin. The incision is only about 1 1/2″ long. The center circle of the port is a soft self-healing silicone type product. The white catheter tube is routed into my jugular vein on the right side of my neck.
I am a little bruised and sore, but healing well.

Ouch!
